Experience at Builders Cafe (Wisteria)

We were quickly ushered to a table and provided menus to browse. After some clarifications, we found out that they now serve all-day breakfast, although that may be subjected to change.

The chilli crab dishes came highly recommended, so we of course had to order the Chilli Crab Toast (S$19.90). A hefty slice of toast is then covered with scrambled eggs topped with Chilli Crab sauce before being crowned with Tobiko. With some greens on the side.

The standout dish amongst what I have tried. The chilli crab sauce is intense without being overly spicy. You can taste the crab within although no chunks are to be had. Mixing in the Tobiko gives you a burst of umami as you bite into it. The egg itself was cooked to my liking, creamy and a great carrier for the sauce.

Nursing a caffeine-deprived headache, I went straight for a Iced Flat White (S$6) with the addition of Soy Milk (S$1).

The Chicken Katsu (S$16.90) burger’s patties reminded me of the chicken cutlets found at hawker stalls, but the sauce across the buns and greens made for a delightful burger.

Pineapple BBQ drumlets (S$10.90) came coated in a tangy, mild sauce. Freshly fried with a crispy coating, if you are looking for a quick fix for fried chicken, this will work in a pinch.

We ended the meal with dessert, a Lemon curd with chia seed tart (S$10). Sour tartness with a hint of sweetness. All wrapped in a firm crust and topped with a torched whipped cream. You will get a little crunch from the chia seeds scattered within as well.
