Using white bread as a pizza base

A strong blast of heat, crisping up the base of the dough, letting every bite have a crunch to it. Placing a pizza steel into their ovens, or even buying whole pizza ovens allows one to reach the stratospheric temperatures required to achieve the crisp base with no sogginess.

An alternative is the use of plan white bread instead.

No speciality equipment required. The classic loaf found from the neighbourhood supermarket serves as the base of this recipe. From there, it is a canvas for your imagination.

Toppings for your pizza bread

As long as you take into consideration that the toppings will be steamed, you have free rein of toppings.

Steaming your food means the toppings will not be cooked at a high temperature throughout the whole process. Having each ingredient in smaller portions, or pre-cooked helps ensure everything will be cooked throughout. Processed meat or prawns that are fully cooked in a fast manner are perfect for this.

Do note that the temperature of the stove cannot be increased further. Doing so will burn the base of your pizza.

Cooking the pizza

Now, one might ask why not just place the toppings over a single slice of bread and toast it in the oven.

The egg mixture binds the whole mess together allowing you to form a bigger base. Bigger base = more surface area for the toppings. The circular shape is more in-line with the classic shape of a pizza, something that will better appeal to kids.

During the whole process, the heat should be kept at low for risk of burning the base. If done right, you will get thin crust loaded with flavour.
