Overview
A crimson glow from the corner of Miss Fitz restaurant with a graffitied label of ‘Backstage’ marks the entrance to Roxy. Within, a curtain demarcates the separation between the bar and restaurant with a flashy sign highlighting its name.
Stepping through the curtains transports you back to a scene not unlike the 1970s, and how I would picture the back of a rock concert would be like. The bar can host 20 patrons in a snug fit amidst walls adorned with scribbles and music posters.
The re-tuned menu now offers eight different cocktails, arranged on a vinyl disk ask various tracks. If nothing on the menu suits your taste, you can also approach Ben for a bespoke cocktail of your choice.
Every drink we ordered certainly packed a punch. A mix of drinks is available, from spirit-forward ones that utilise firewater giving you a lovely burn as it goes down, to a refreshing glass with a citrus bite.
If you are feeling peckish, Roxy shares a kitchen with Miss Fitz outside. Expect Mediterranean bites and mains the likes of flatbread and hummus.
Most people enjoy the ambience, the drinks, or the company, but for some reason, the food at various bars just amazes me. From a hearty hummus that settles your stomach in preparation for the next shot to a rich, almost gamey terrine the options are aplenty. You are welcomed with a bowl of popcorn, with a surprising spicy kick to it. The octopus was tender to the bite and with the umami-rich, savoury note from the charred exterior that had no hint of bitterness.
